DESCRIPTION

In the past years MR scanners with very high magnetic field strengths - such as 7 T whole body scanners - have been developed. The increased SNR provides opportunities for spectroscopic applications and are of special interest for neurologic studies of the human head. On the other hand increased field strengths force careful examination of the SAR absorbtion and dielectric resonance effects.

RAPID Biomedical has developed an 8 channel head array for 7 T with 8 transmit and 8 receive channels. The benefits of this technique are a well defined transmission combined with a sensitive reception.

For better patient access the array can be split into two halves.
